Journal excerpts from Haiti (1/22-2/8)
Posted by joy under journaling , Haiti journal excerpts , helping HaitiPastor Bob Bixby, working in Haiti as a French-speaking chaplain with a medical team there (Jan.22-Feb.8), has had an opportunity to email some publishable excerpts from his journal entries. We would like to make them public for all the team members’ families and friends to read, as well. Hopefully these will give us a better glimpse into what Haitians are facing, and better information for how we can be helping from here and praying for the team.
Vol.I - Introduction & Day 1 (1/22/10)
Vol.II - Day 2 (1/23/10)
Vol.III - Day 3 (1/24/10)
We will keep this post updated with new links as Pastor is able to send more excerpts in the future.

Thank you for going now when we cannot. I pray with very many tears for these people and will continue to do so in the long-term. What an honour it would be to serve Christ by physically handing them that “cup of water.” May God grant us the privilege of going to them.

God bless Pastor Bixby and every other believer who is involved in making this effort possible! In this God-given opportunity they are opening their mouths for the speechless, involved in the cause of those who are dying, judging righteously, and pleading the cause of the poor and needy (Proverbs 31:8-9). For many of us it would be counter-productive at best to go there ourselves (even if we did not become casualties ourselves we would not be able to help much without needed skills and supplies), but we can still pray for and support those who are able to travel there and help.
